Village water main burst takes out supplies for second time this year
29/06/2023
Charlton and Aynho lost mains supplies early this morning
People in parts of Charlton and Aynho have had low, or no water pressure today due to a burst water main. Problems first came to light early this morning (Thursday) and were pinpointed to a burst under Main Street in Charlton.
Its just three months since a similar problem in the same area. Then, mains supplies were off for most of the day with supplies in Aynho pumped into the local system by water tankers.
The latest problem is further along the same stretch of mains pipework in Charlton. The road through the village has been closed whilst engineers attempt to fix the burst.
It is anticipated that supplies will be restored by 7pm. Tankers are currently providing water to Aynho from a point in Portway.
A spokesperson for Anglian Water told Banbury FM: “We currently have engineers attending a burst water main in Main Street Charlton. This has resulted in a road closure.
“Our teams are working hard to fix the problem and we have tankers supporting water supplies.
“We apologise for any disruption to customers and intend to have all completed later this evening.”
