Vinyl revival to be celebrated with author and documentary maker
04/04/2023
Author says he has visited more record shops than any other person
The resurgence in the popularity of vinyl records will be celebrated at an event in Banbury this evening.
“The Vinyl Revival and the Shops That Made it Happen” is being held at the Apothecary Tap in Butchers Row and has been organised by the town’s independent record shop, Strummer Room Records.
The evening takes its name from a book by the author Graham Jones, who will be attending the event to showcase a documentary, based on his book.
Mr Jones is one of the founders of Proper Music Distribution and professes to having visited more record shops than any other person. The documentary explores the renaissance of vinyl records and includes interviews with Pink Floyd’s Nick Mason and Philip Selway from Radiohead, amongst others.
Alongside the documentary and conversation with Mr Jones, a quiz with prizes will be held, together with a vinyl and CD giveaway, book signing, and comic tales from the world of record retailing.
Proceeds from the evening will be donated to the Nordoff Robbins Music Therapy Charity. Tickets are available from Strummer Room Records at £10 per person.
