The contributions of those who give up their time to help others are being celebrated

Volunteers Week started today.    It’s an annual opportunity between June 1st and 7th to recognise the contribution volunteers make in our communities.

Around our area those who give up their time to help others are being celebrated.

In Thames Valley Police roles such as Special Constables and Cadets are held by volunteers.

Chief Superintendent Emma Garside, Local Policing and Force Lead for Citizens in Policing, said: “Our volunteers play a vital role in helping us deliver and improve the service we provide to our communities across the Thames Valley.”

Matthew Barber, Police and Crime Commissioner for Thames Valley, said: “I am truly inspired by the tireless work of our Police Support Volunteers, who give up their own time to support and protect their communities.”

Elsewhere Banbury Samaritans thanked the volunteers who have donated their time and compassion over the years.

Hospital radio station Radio Horton paid tribute to the volunteers on their team for taking on roles such as presenters, patient and care home visitors and those who work behind the scenes.
