Warning over fire risk after field blaze
26/07/2022
“the ground and vegetation is still very dry and even a small ember can cause a larger fire”
Firefighters from three fire stations attended a field fire near to Weston On The Green yesterday afternoon. A 4×4 unit from Banbury worked alongside crews from Bicester and Kidlington Fire Stations.
The emergency services were called at 3.17pm.
When they arrived, firefighters found a fast-growing fire which was threatening two nearby fields full of crops.
Crews quickly prevented the fire from spreading by extinguishing the blaze using hose reel jets.
A spokesperson for Oxfordshire Fire and rescue said: “We would like to remind everyone that although the air temperature has dropped the ground and vegetation is still very dry and even a small ember can cause a larger fire.”
Details of what caused the fire are not currently available.
