Police say the sentencing has brought a complex and difficult investigation to a conclusion
A woman from Middleton Cheney has been sentenced for the manslaughter of Barrie Davenport.
Mr Davenport died at an assisted living complex in Banbury’s School Lane in October 2022. He was 88.
Fifty-five year old Lisa Davenport of Washle Drive, Middleton Cheney, was sentenced to two years in prison, suspended for two years, at Oxford Crown Court today. She had pleaded guilty to one count of manslaughter in November last year.
Following Mr Davenport’s death a murder investigation was launched. Lisa Davenport was charged with one count of murder on September 8, 2023 but the prosecution accepted the alternative plea of manslaughter by diminished responsibility.
Senior investigating officer Detective Inspector Alice Broad, of the Major Crime Unit, said: “Firstly, our thoughts remain with the family and friends of Barrie Davenport.
“This sentencing has brought a complex and difficult investigation to a conclusion and demonstrates the dedication of our officers and staff working to fully investigate the events leading up to and on that day.”
