Year 7 students attend Shakespeare Day

Key themes and scenes from ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ were explored
Over one hundred pupils from local secondary schools attended a Shakespeare Day at Broughton Castle on Friday. Year 7 students from Bloxham School, Wykham Park Academy and North Oxfordshire Academy were at the event, alongside young people from Whitelands Academy, Chipping Norton School and Cooper School in Bicester.
They took part in a morning of workshops delivered by the Royal Shakespeare Company. The students and had an opportunity to perform to their peers.
Key themes and scenes from ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ were explored, providing a unique and memorable introduction to one of Shakespeare’s most famous pieces of work.
The day was organised by Banbury’s MP Victoria Prentis who said: “I enjoyed a terrific morning hosting my Shakespeare Day at the historic Broughton Castle.”
Mrs Prentis added: “I would like to take the opportunity to thank High Sheriff of Oxfordshire Sally Scott for sponsoring the event and the Fiennes family for allowing us to borrow [their] wonderful home for the morning.”
