Over 40 youngsters are involved in the production of Everybody’s Talking About Jamie: Teen Edition

The Youth of Banbury Operatic Society – known as the YOBOS – are gearing up for their next production, which starts at the Wykham Theatre next week.

In their 20th Anniversary year they are heading on stage with the musical “Everybody’s Talking About Jamie: Teen Edition”.

Based on a true story, the show focuses on 16-year-old Jamie New who doesn’t want a traditional career, but instead dreams of becoming a drag queen.   Supported by his mother and friends, Jamie overcomes discrimination and bullying to step into the spotlight.

In preparation for the show the actor, singer, and dancer Layton Williams hosted a workshop for the cast and crew.   Layton is known for his performances in TV’s “Bad Education” and has played the lead role in the West End and touring versions Everybody’s Talking About Jamie.

Over 40 young people are involved in the show, both on stage and behind the scenes.

Director Ben Coleman said: “Witnessing their love for theatre and watching their growth fills me with immense pride.

“Don’t miss the chance to see them shine in this production before they make their mark in the industry.   It is one of the most uplifting and joyous stories currently available to perform.   It has a beautiful score and a touching, modern and hilarious storyline that truly acknowledges the importance of self-acceptance and belonging”.

YOBOS perform Everybody’s Talking About Jamie: Teen Edition at Wykham Theatre, Wykham Park Academy Friday 11th at 7.30pm and on Saturday 12th at both 2.30pm and 7.30pm.   Tickets are available here.
