Young entrepreneurs aim to impress at Banbury market on Saturday
10/12/2021
Youngsters have set up and run their own companies over the course of a school year
Up and coming entrepreneurs from all over Oxfordshire will be plying their wares at a Young Enterprise Christmas Trade Fair tomorrow.
They’ll be setting up at Banbury Market to find out what we think of their products and honing their customer service skills.
Products on sale at the fair will include gift cards, candles and vinyl clocks.
The stallholders are all students aged from 15 to 18 and they will be judged by a team of dignitaries and mystery shoppers, after which prizes will be awarded.
Councillor Lynn Pratt, Lead Member for Economy, Regeneration and Property, said: “These young businesspeople represent the future of our local economy and we can’t wait to experience their business ideas and see the products they have to offer.
“It is the variety and creativity that small businesses offer that makes visiting Banbury town centre special, and it’s great that we are able to support an event like this which encourages that entrepreneurship from an early age. I am sure that many of the students taking part in this festive event will go on to great things!”
The annual event is run by The Oxfordshire Area Board of Young Enterprise with the support of Cherwell District Council. The programme sees them set up and run their own companies over the course of a school year.
Mayor of Banbury, Councillor Shaida Hussain, will be in attendance to show her support and encouragement for the students.
