Youth who damaged gravestone issued with “community resolution”
30/06/2023
The solution is seen as a method of dealing with a crime in the hope a lesson has been learnt
The youth responsible for damaging an historic gravestone in Adderbury has been identified by Thames Valley Police. Last weekend we reported the vandalism in the graveyard outside St Mary’s Church.
The youth has been issued with a “community resolution” for the criminal damage they caused.
Rather than criminalising a person, a community resolution is a method of dealing with a crime in the hope a lesson will be learnt.
The youth will be completing voluntary work for the church to make recompense for the damage they caused. This outcome was agreed between the police, the youth’s parents and a representative from the church.
