Roads

We’ve had reports of a fallen tree partially blocking the road through Claydon.   A power cable is affected.

In Banbury on Wycombe Gardens there is a tree blocking part of the road.

On the A361 Between Bloxham and South Newington a tree is partially blocking the road.

The Hook Norton road near Great Rollright is blocked by a fallen tree.

A tree is blocking the road between Milcombe and Wiggington Heath by the Rye Hill Golf Club.

In Sibford Ferris on main road through the village a tree is down covering carriageway.

Heading towards Banbury from Middleton Cheney on the B4525 there is a fallen tree partially blocking the road.

Thames Valley Police advise “Please take care if you are out and about.  If you are driving, give yourself extra time, be cautious and remember to give high sided/large and heavy goods vehicles extra space”.

Public Transport

On the trains the lines are blocked between Leamington Spa and Stratford-Upon-Avon.

Chiltern Railways are operating a reduced service.   They tell us “Exceptionally high winds, as a result of Storm Ciara, are impacting train services throughout the country today. In addition to the current extended journey times due to engineering works, trains to / from the West Midlands will arrive up to 50 minutes later and trains to / from Oxford and Aylesbury will arrive up to 15 minutes later”.


Events

At Silverstone the severe weather has meant they have had to close down today’s Silverstone Drive Experience.

Canons Ashby House will be closed for the safety of their visitors and team.

Bloxham School’s Eventer Challenge at Aston le Walls has been abandoned.

Upton House and Gardens say due to the forecast for very high winds they will be completely closed all day on Sunday.


Sport

Banbury United Womens FC say their match will not take place today after Thames Valley Counties Women’s Football League called off all games in their league.


Schools

The Grange C.P School report that one of their trees fallen in the high winds. There is a lot of damage to the school boundary fence the school site has been rendered unsafe. The school has announced it will have to remain closed for at least two days whilst the tree is taken away and the site made safe.
