Liz Adams highlights her campaign priorities

The Liberal Democrat candidate for Banbury at the General Election is focusing on action to tackle the cost-of-living crisis, the NHS and the sewage scandal as she campaigns for votes on July 4.

Liz Adams says she has knocked on hundreds of doors and listened to hundreds of people to find out what they want for our area’s future.

She grew up in an economically deprived area in social housing and studied for degree and postgraduate qualifications whilst caring for her two children.

As a family and education law barrister Ms Adams has represented some of the most vulnerable people in society at difficult times in their lives.    Previously she volunteered for a charity giving free legal advice to parents of children with special educational needs and disabilities and authored the Lib Dem national party policy on tackling domestic abuse.

Ms Adams said: “For years, Banbury, Chipping Norton, Charlbury, and the North Oxfordshire Villages have been taken for granted by an out-of-touch Conservative Government that has failed to get the basics right and lurched from crisis to crisis – now it’s time for a change.

“Local health services have been brought to their knees, people’s mortgages and rent have skyrocketed and water companies have been allowed to pump their filthy sewage into our rivers. All this by a Conservative government more interested in fighting between themselves than standing up for the country.

“Every vote for the Liberal Democrats is a vote for a fair deal. It’s a vote for a party that will stand up for our community and our health services.”

The Liberal Democrats took control of Cherwell District Council as a minority administration following May’s local elections.   They have been running Oxfordshire County Council since 2021.
