100 fairy lit tractors heading out for eighth annual Tractor Run

15/12/2023

Kaleb Cooper will be taking part again

The eighth annual RC Baker Christmas Tractor Run will head out tomorrow evening (Saturday).   Following the success of the route being extended into Banbury last year, people in town will once again be able to enjoy the spectacle.

The event’s first run happened in 2016 with just 26 farmers taking part.    This year’s convoy will feature 100 vehicles and will again include a tractor driven by Clarkson’s Farm star Kaleb Cooper.

The event raises money for the Katharine House Hospice, with each driver paying £35 for their spot in the convoy.   A number of tractors are also being sponsored by local companies, which has brought in additional funds in excess of £13,000.

The Tractor Run will depart from Spring Hill Farm in Barford St Michael at 5pm, heading to South Newington, Milcombe and Bloxham.  From here the convoy will head into Banbury on the A361 Bloxham Road.

In town the fairy lit farm vehicles will travel down South Bar, loop around Banbury Cross and then head out through Bodicote to Adderbury on the Oxford Road.

In Adderbury the convoy will pass Katharine House Hospice and then continue to Aynho, Clifton, Deddington and Hempton, before heading back through Barford St Michael to Spring Hill Farm.

The route offers plenty of places to watch the convoy but organisers are asking people to find sensible and safe places to park to prevent avoidable delays.

Donations can be made online. Alternatively by text to donate £5 send “TRACTORLIGHTS 5” to 70085.   The number after TRACTORLIGHTS can be changed to whatever amount you wish to donate (minimum £2).   Texts cost the donation amount and one standard rate message.
