Hospice Appeals For Tablet Computers

Katharine House seeking donations of tablet computers to help patients stay in contact with the families.

The Katharine House Hospice is appealing for people to donate tablet computers to help patients stay in contact with their families during the coronavirus pandemic.   Visits to see patients at the hospice are currently restricted and so the nurses are helping families stay connected using tablets and mobile phones.

To make this easier the hospice is asking anyone who has a suitable tablet they no longer need to donate it to Katharine House.   They are particularly looking for Samsung S or A tablets or similar android devices.

Hospice staff say that recently a tablet was used to allow an overseas family to play favourite music pieces to a loved one staying in the In-patient unit.

Donated tablet computers will also be used by the Living Well team supporting their work with community-based patients during the COVID-19 crisis.

Since launching the appeal Katharine House has already received a Samsung A tablet and a brand new Huawei device which are already in use on the in-patient unit.

Anyone able to donate a suitable device should contact the hospice on 01295 811866 or via their website at khh.org.uk.
