As shops prepare to reopen after lockdown BID members get a helping hand planning for the new normal

Many businesses around North Oxfordshire that have been closed since lockdown began are now preparing to restart their operation.   Banbury BID is offering it’s members a helping hand in navigating the practicalities of operating safely in a world where COVID-19 remains a threat.

Many local shops in the town that have been closed for the last few weeks are planning to reopen from next Monday (June 15th).   Ahead of that business owners are this week are taking the necessary steps to ensure the safety of customers and those working in their businesses.

Banbury BID have organised reopening starter kits for their member businesses.   Each pack will contain a variety of items such as social distancing floor stickers, posters and hand sanitiser.   Packs will be available for collection from unit 28c in the Castle Quay Shopping Centre (near The Entertainer) this Thursday and Friday between 10.30am – 2.30pm.

Member businesses who are unable to collect their packs should contact the BID directly and make alternative arrangements.

The BID has also assembled a list of preferred suppliers who are able to help with other items such as social distancing and PPE products, and printed materials for reopening businesses. Some of the suppliers are offering special discounts.

To ensure the safety of shoppers in town Banbury BID is working with Cherwell District Council, Banbury Town Council and the Castle Quay Shopping Centre to organise a strategy for the town’s streets and lanes, particularly those which are narrow.

Jo Holland, Manager for Banbury BID told Banbury FM, “We surveyed our businesses to find out what help they needed.   From this the BID Board agreed to fund reopening packs for them”.

Jo told us that local businesses had missed their customers and wanted them to return and feel safe.   She said “The message is shop local.   We can’t wait to welcome people back into the town centre”.
