Andy Whing starts to put together the Banbury United squad for 2020-21

Banbury United have confirmed the signing of a new striker for the 2020-21 season.   Henry Landers played for the Southern League Division One side North Leigh during the 2018-19 season.   Prior to that the 20-year-old was a member of the youth team level with Oxford City.

During his time with North Leigh Henry scored 24 goals for the West Oxfordshire side and this is noted as a key factor in them retaining their Southern League status.

Henry started last season with Maidenhead United where he was loaned for a month to Isthmian League side Cheshunt before he opted to move back to North Leigh in November. He scored 12 goals in 18 appearances for the Millers before last season was abandoned in March, including him scoring all five goals as they won 5-4 away to Bedford Town towards the end of January.

Puritan’s manager Andy Whing said “We’re delighted to sign Henry, he’s a really talented footballer who got a move to the National League last season. His goal and assist record in the last couple of seasons has been fantastic and we hope he can carry that forward for us. On top of that he’s a really nice lad who will fit into the squad perfectly”.

Banbury United have also announced that six of last season’s squad who were available to get to the Banbury Plant Hire Community Stadium have now re-signed.   Amer Awadh, Connor Roberts, Jack Harding, Lee Henderson, Giorgio Rasulo and Charlie Hawtin are now confirmed as part of the 2020-21 squad.

The club say it is expected Jack Westbrook, Ricky Johnson and Pablo Haysham will also be re-signing. Matt Haycocks and Liam Shea will be returning to join Andy Whing’s backroom staff.
