Banbury Bowl announces it will reopen and is now taking bookings

Banbury’s bowling alley has finally got the green light to reopen following the coronavirus enforced shutrdown.   Owners Disco Bowl Limited have announced the venue off George Street will be back up and running from Saturday August 1st.

Pete Terry, Managing Director of the company said, “We as a company have been working hard behind the scenes to ensure all safety procedures and Covid requirements are surpassed so that our customers and families can concentrate on having a great bowling experience once again”.

Banbury Bowl was refurbished in November 2019 featuring intelligent multicoloured lane lighting, shabby chic bar, DJ hosts, Namco arcade, pizza menu and new drinks offers. The venue had previously closed in February 2019 after the collapse of the MFA Bowl UK chain.

Mr Terry said, “We found the people of Banbury loved the changes we made to this bowl and we were blown away by their support when we launched. We’ve taken the time to make a few more changes whilst closed and cant wait to welcome people once again. “

Today’s announcement comes after Mr Terry spoke to Banbury FM back in June to express his frustration that bowling alleys had been told they couldn’t reopen at the start of July when other parts of the leisure industry were allowed to.   At the time Banbury’s MP Victoria Prentis told us, “I understand how difficult the past few months have been for all businesses, including Banbury Bowl. I spoke to the Tourism & Sports Minister yesterday to express my constituents’ frustration about the remaining closure of bowling alleys, gyms and swimming pools. The Government is having to negotiate a wide set of considerations, and I know the that the situation is under active review. I very much hope we will have good news soon”.

Bookings for sessions at Banbury Bowl are now being taken via the  company’s website: www.banburybowl.co.uk.

Visitors will find COVID protection measures in place include:

* Hand sanitiser stations throughout the venue

* Disposable food packaging

* Lanes will be spaced 1 on 1 off for social distancing

* Use of the new Disco Bowl app so that food and drink is brought to guests in their lanes

* Restricted balls on the lanes cleaned after each game

* Track and Trace facilities via online bookings

* Additional bowl hosts to clean surfaces, machines and ensure that customers are kept safe

Commenting on the closure period, General Manager Kieran Graham said, “The team and I can’t wait to get the doors open again and provide some safe family fun to all our customers. Our new focus on at your lane service will mean people can enjoy bowling and have everything brought to them with just a few clicks of our app”.
