Shopping Centre security staff alert police to Banbury man carrying knife
A Banbury man has been detained by police after being spotted in the town centre with a kitchen knife.
The 57-year-old male was seen with the knife by security staff from the Castle Quay shopping centre. At the time he was in Banbury High Street during an otherwise normal Friday shopping day.
Thames Valley Police have issued a message to thank the security staff from the shopping centre for quickly contacting them, enabling officers to locate and apprehend the individual and take possession of the knife.
A police statement says, “Many thanks to security staff from Castle Quay, Banbury for their eagle eyed spot of a male in possession of a kitchen knife on the High Street, Banbury. Their quick response allowed us to promptly detain the male and recover the knife”.
The man is currently in police custody.
