Cherwell’s team are in the final three in the Collection Of The Year category

Cherwell District Council’s waste and recycling crews are into the final three in a national competition to find the Collection Crew of the Year.   The award is one of the categories at the Excellence in Recycling and Waste Management Awards, organised by letsrecycle.com.

The annual event is now in its 17th year and recognises innovation, dedication and success within the waste and recycling industries, local authorities and the wider sector.

The crew from Cherwell are one of three finalists in the Collection Of The Year category and are up against the London Borough of Newham and Wychavon & FCC Environment.

A spokesman for Cherwell District Council said, “With the increased weights of waste and recycling they’ve been dealing with in this very unusual year, we’re certainly proud of them”.

Steve Eminton, the editor of letsrecycle.com is one of the judges.   He said, “Congratulations to all those who have been selected as finalists for this year’s awards and commiserations to those who didn’t make the shortlist. As ever the judges saw a very high standard across the whole sector in all its different activities and approaches, from individuals through to teams and partnerships”.

The winners will be announced at a virtual ceremony on 6 November 2020.
