Local 80s tribute band get back to performing live

2020 will go down as one of the most testing years for local musicians who have been unable to perform to an audience for months on end.   Now one band is utilising the power of technology to get back to performing live.

Sledgehammer, the 80s tribute band, will be performing live this Friday evening from a studio and streaming the gig via Facebook and YouTube so fans can be there virtually.   The band are planning on providing a whole two-hour concert performance.

Guitarist Simon Bays said, “We played most of the pubs that put on live bands.   Our favourites are probably the Musketeer, The Dog and Gun, The Swan, The Pepperpot in Grimsbury and The Dolphin in Middleton Cheney.

“We were booked to play The Wine Vaults just as the lockdown kicked in.   We had to cancel so many gigs.   What a year!

“We had this huge party planned for Garth Park in Bicester over the August Bank Holiday.   Last year we played there and it sold out.   Unfortunately that got cancelled”.

Sledgehammer bring back the complete 80s experience in their performances, dressed for the occasion with a very energetic performance.

Frustrated with not being able to perform live the band have teamed up with TAD Studios in Chesterton to perform a live interactive gig tomorrow evening (Friday) from 8pm.   They’ll be playing non stop for two hours, covering many of the big hits from the 80s including songs from Aha, Van Halen and many others.

Tickets are available here.

Sledgehammer even have a few famous 80s names amongst their fan base.
