Best ever on-line attendance at networking meeting results in donation to Helen and Douglas House

A popular business networking group met virtually this week, celebrated the organiser’s birthday and raised £390 for the Helen and Douglas House Hospice at the same time.

The Banbury Business Buzz group’s regular meeting this month fell on host Lisa-Marie Mallier’s birthday – Wednesday 28th October.   Lisa-Marie decided she would donate £100 of her own money to the Helen and Douglas House if she reached a minimum attendance level.

Business people from across the area signed up to join in the special meeting and took attendance numbers at the virtual event to a new record high.   Those who booked in advance were sent birthday packs and many joined the meeting in celebratory style.

As Lisa-Marie’s target was achieved she donated her £100, which was then matched by two other attendees.   Others made donations leading to an impressive sum of £390 to be presented to the Helen and Douglas House Hospice.

Lisa-Marie said: “It was about getting people together, giving them something to look forward to and a reason to celebrate the connections that happen at Business Buzz.”

“Helen and Douglas House Hospice do a fantastic job here in Oxfordshire looking after people and children with life limiting illnesses.   They’re our regional Charity Of The Year.   It’s been very difficult for them to fund raise in their normal way when they can’t run face to face events.”

Two representatives from the Helen and Douglas House were present at the virtual meeting and gave an overview of the charity’s work.

Business Buzz is an informal networking group with no membership fee, centred around building genuine relationships.   The group meets monthly in Banbury with local Buzz groups operating elsewhere in Oxfordshire and other parts of the country.

Banbury Business Buzz is supported locally by Banbury & District Chamber of Commerce, Cloud9 Telecoms, gHawk Accounting, Magenta Self Storage and Website Energizers and regionally by media partners, JACKfm Oxford and B4.
