A 35-year-old male from Birmingham has been arrested following an investigation into shots being fired at a house in Banbury’s Sinclair Avenue last December.   The man was arrested last Friday (February 12) on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

Police were initially called to reports that a number of gunshots had been fired in Sinclair Avenue at around 11.30pm on Sunday 20 December 2020.   They believed the occupants of a car pulled up and a number of shots were fired outside a residence.

Although no one was hurt the firearm had been discharged a number of times towards the house.

At the time senior investigating officer, Detective Chief Inspector Larry Johnson, Crime Manager for Cherwell and West Oxfordshire, said: “This is a concerning incident and as a result we are carrying out a thorough investigation following a number of lines of enquiry, and the premises and scene are being searched by special trained officers and our CSI teams.

“We are keeping an open mind as to the reasons behind this incident, but at this time we do not believe there was a wider danger to the public.”

The arrested male has since been released on conditional bail until March 12.
