One driver was caught travelling at 47mph in a 30mph limit

A unit from Northants Police’s Safer Roads Team witnessed 37 speeding drivers during two monitoring sessions in Brackley yesterday (Monday).   The unit also saw 3 drivers not wearing seatbelts and 9 goods vehicles exceeding their speed restriction limits.

During one of two periods keeping a watch on the Buckingham Road 27 people were caught exceeding the 30mph limit.   Writing in Twitter the Safer Roads Team said: “One driver [was] completely blind to our presence and was caught speeding past the van at 47mph, showing a total disregard to the limit and safety of others on the road”.

A separate session later in the day monitored the A43 around Brackley, from the carriageway towards Silverstone.   10 cars were seen exceeding the legal speed limit with a further 9 goods vehicles travelling faster than their restricted limit.

Another 3 drivers were caught not wearing a seatbelt.

The Safer Roads Team said: “Our equipment can detect all speeding vehicles in either direction on all 4 lanes. There is no excuse for speeding.”
