Banbury boy spotted by police patrolling Green Lane bridge area of Banbury

A 17-year-old boy from Banbury has been arrested after being found in possession of a large quantity of suspected Class A drugs.   He was also carrying what officers described as “a considerable amount of cash”.

The arrest yesterday follows reports of suspicious behaviour and suspected drug dealing in and around the Green Lane bridge area of Banbury.   The bridge forms part of the footpath that runs behind Morrisons supermarket, over the Upper Windsor Street inner relief road and on towards Britannia Road.

Local officers have been patrolling the area and spotted the youth who was detained and searched under Section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act.

Yesterday the 17-year-old was in custody with the investigation ongoing.

In a statement on social media Thames Valley Police said: “It is not lost upon us the considerable risk that young people are putting themselves in by becoming involved in drug dealing.

“If you have concerns about a loved one, or notice such activity in your area, please report it either online or via 101 giving us as much information as possible.

“If you wish to remain anonymous you can also report via Crimestoppers.”
