Person dies on train line north of Banbury


British Transport Police called to incident at 9.45 this morning

A person has died after an incident on the main train line between Banbury and Leamington Spa this morning.   British Transport Police were called to the line near Leamington at 9.45am.

Paramedics also attended the incident but sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers are working to identify the deceased and inform their next of kin.

Due to the incident all train services on the line between Banbury and Leamington had to be suspended.   A number of trains heading south from Banbury have been cancelled through the morning.

British Transport Police say the incident is not being treated as suspicious.

Network Rail advise that disruption is expected to continue for rail users until approximately 2:15pm.
