Operation Sceptre to reduce knife crime begins
26/04/2021
Week long amnesty offers a chance to dispose of any type of knife or bladed article
Thames Valley Police is joining other police forces across the country and taking part in Operation Sceptre, a national week of action to tackle knife crime.
From today a knife amnesty is running until Sunday. During this period members of the public will be able to safely and anonymously dispose of any type of knife or bladed article.
The aims of the operation are to remove dangerous weapons from the streets, reduce knife crime and raise awareness of the dangers and consequences of carrying a knife.
A knife amnesty bin has been placed at Banbury police station.
Anyone with any information about the possession of knives, or criminal activity relating to this type of crime, can make a report online at www.thamesvalley.police.uk, by calling 101, or by contacting Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
