Custody escapee remains at large as searches continue
A Banbury man was arrested yesterday as police officers continue to search for an offender who escaped from custody last month. The 30-year-old taken into custody yesterday was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
On April 14 Lewis Abubakar had been arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs in Bicester. The arrest came after a vehicle that he was in was found to contain a significant amount of class A drugs.
Following Abubakar’s arrest, he stated he had a wrist injury and was taken to the Horton General Hospital for treatment. He made his escape from the A&E department in the early hours of April 15, whilst still wearing handcuffs.
Yesterday’s arrest is in connection with the case. Abubakar remains at large and searches are underway in the Banbury area.
