Application for two-storey portacabin in mosque car park

A previous application for a single story unit has already been approved
An outline planning application has been submitted to site a two storey portacabin unit in the car park of the Banbury Madni Mosque on Merton Street.
A previous application for a single storey unit was approved in March last year. That was intended to provide somewhere for local groups to meet, which could also be used by organisations such as the NHS and Police. At the time the provision of a new youth club was also mooted.
The latest application for a two-storey unit has been lodged as the mosque attempts to deal with having to cancel classes inside their main building when funerals must be held at short notice. The portacabin would provide space so that sudden changes could be accommodated.
The mosque car park currently has 64 car parking spaces. Six of these at the west side, far end of the car park would be lost to facilitate the portacabin, but an independent assessment found that would have little impact. The busy time for usage each week is during Friday Prayers when around 50 spaces were used.
The public are invited to comment on the proposal by February 27.

It looks as if it’s needed, so I hope it will be passed
