Bottle bank closing due to continual fly tipping

A well used bottle bank is set to be removed after continual problems with people fly tipping at the facility. The two Council’s responsible for the glass recycling units say the situation cannot continue.
The bottle bank is based on the main A4260 Oxford Road in a layby just to the north of Adderbury. Adderbury Parish Council says the facility will be removed this week.
A spokesperson for the Council said: “The location of the banks appear to encourage constant fly tipping in the layby, with all sorts of rubbish being dumped around the banks and in the ditch behind. Therefore the Parish Council and Cherwell District Council have agreed that the recycling banks should be removed as this situation cannot continue.”
Over the Bank Holiday weekend a large volume of waste had been left around the bottle banks. Cherwell District Council staff visited the layby and cleared this away on Tuesday morning.
The closest alternative bottle bank facilities are available in the Council depot layby between Adderbury and Deddington and at Cherwell District Council’s Bodicote House offices.

put up cameras and prosecute just like you do to the motorist, taking the bottle bank away will not stop the fly tipping as most fly tippers are habitual. Council as usual not got a clue!!!!

Please can the council make it easier to dispose of rubbish, as there are no local tips only recycling centres, which only take items they can sell on or recycle. No where else other than a green bin to dispose of domestic waste, and if it doesn’t fit in the green bin where can it go? without having to pay extra? If the council make it easier for local residents there will be no fly tipping.

Why don’t Cherwell take glass with the bins like every other council does?
