The music filled day started with the proclamation and will conclude with a beacon being lit

A day of events in Brackley to mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day began this morning on The Piazza.

Town Councillor Adrian Watt read out the VE Day 80th anniversary proclamation, accompanied by Town Mayor Mrs Elaine Wiltshire.

As he did so the VE Day Union Flag was raised above the Town Hall.

Brackley has a programme of events lined up to mark the day, including afternoon performances in Town Park by Radstone Primary, Bracken Leas and Brackley Junior School choirs and a screening of the movie “The Dambusters” in Brackley Methodist Church.

This evening nostalgic music from The Cherry Belles and performances by the Jubilee and Glee Choirs in Town Park will be followed with a Beacon being lit at half-past-nine.
