Election 2024: Victoria Prentis bids Bicester farewell as constituency splits

The incumbent MP is standing in the redrawn Banbury constituency

Parliament was officially dissolved at midnight, ending Victoria Prentis’ time as the MP for Bicester.

With the former Banbury and Bicester constituency having been split Mrs Prentis had to choose in which area she would stand on July 4.  Having selected the Banbury area the fortunes of the incumbent MP are now in the hands of voters on July 4.

As the constituency area of Banbury and Bicester ceased to exist Mrs Prentis bid farewell to Bicester residents she has served.

She said: “Since my first election in 2015, Bicester has grown enormously, with new housing areas including Kingsmere, Elmsbrook and Graven Hill.   At the same time, we have seen new schools open like Gagle Brook and Whitelands Academy.   Businesses including Ocado, Siemens Healthineers and YASA have all recognised Bicester’s potential by choosing to open new state-of-the-art facilities in the town.

“We should be enormously proud of how Bicester has flourished, but also how all those living in the town have managed the growing pains.   It has been an honour to represent the area as it has undergone such significant change.   I wish all those living in Bicester and the nearby villages the very best in the future.”

Until polling day Mrs Prentis says constituents in any part of the old area can continue to contact her office with urgent casework enquiries.
