A number of fire appliances were at the scene
Fire fighters dealt with a field fire in Adderbury on Friday evening.
The blaze took hold in a crop field opposite the Pickled Ploughman on the Aynho Road.
At its peak five fire appliances were at the scene with police assisting Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue by controlling the traffic on the B4100.
Smoke was blowing towards the houses on the nearby estate, the fire having initially spread in that direction from the opposite side of the field. Residents praised the speed the fire service arrived on scene and their prompt work to contain the flames.

Power supplies in the OX17 area were lost at around 7.30pm. A student who lives on the nearby estate told Banbury FM the fire started soon after a loud bang was heard from the field at this time. A transformer on a pole bringing power to the village in the field did appear to have suffered some damage.
