England’s patron saint is celebrated on April 23

St George’s flags are being flown around the area to mark St George’s Day.

In Brackley the town council’s estates team spent time earlier this week decorating the town with the St George’s Cross, one of which is flying above the Town Hall.

Banbury Town Council shared a picture of the St George’s Cross and Union Jack flying together at Banbury Town Hall.

This evening, a traditional slice of English folklore will be on show as Brackley Morris Men stage a lively performance of the classic mumming play St George and the Dragon.

The event will take place at The Blackbird in Croughton, offering audiences a chance to enjoy bold characters, energetic acting and plenty of humour. The centuries-old play, centred on Saint George, is a staple of English folk tradition and remains a popular way to mark the national day.
