The Tennis Courts were refurbished last summer

Free tennis lessons are being made available to people in Banbury on Saturday mornings.

The sessions, in People’s Park, have been arranged through a partnership between Banbury Town Council and the Lawn Tennis Association.

They’re being run by Shola Adebisi, who’s the Head Coach at Banbury Tennis Academy and Jenny Edwards, a Lawn Tennis Association Level 2 Coach PTR instructor.

An initial session ran last Saturday and the series is the first major initiative at the Tennis Courts since they were refurbished last summer.

Councillor Mark Cherry, former Town Mayor and Chairman of Banbury Town Council’s General Services Committee, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone, regardless of age or experience, to take part in an exciting sport that bridges communities, backgrounds and entire generations.

“We’ve seen People’s Park Tennis Courts transformed into a wonderful venue that Banbury can be proud of, and it’s great to see such programmes making the most of these first-class sports facilities.”

Anyone wishing to take advantage of the free sessions can book a place online.   They run between 10 and 11am.
