Local memories and village connections to the railway will feature

Galleries of images capturing local memories and connections to the railway are going to be created at Kings Sutton station as part of a community project supported by Chiltern Railways.

The rail operator has announced 11 new projects across their area they are support with grants totalling £150,000.

The Community Investment Fund projects are focused on biodiversity, wellbeing, placemaking and skills development.

The project at Kings Sutton aims to enhance the station environment and foster pride in place.   Gallery frames will be installed on platforms 1 and 2, creating curated exhibition spaces.   Artwork will be created by a local artist in partnership with Oxfordshire Community Rail Partnership.

Work will be completed by the end of next March.

Of the 11 successful projects Michael Stewart, Customer and Commercial Strategy Director at Chiltern Railways, said: “From community art and biodiversity initiatives to youth development programmes, each project has been designed and led by local organisations with a deep understanding of the needs and aspirations of their communities. We are proud to support their work and look forward to seeing the lasting positive impact these initiatives will deliver across our network.”
