Horley Cricket Club hoping to rebuild their pavilion
10/10/2025

The club didn’t proceed with an earlier scheme
Horley Cricket Club’s committee have submitted a planning application to rebuild their pavilion, which dates back to the 1950s.
Early in 2018 they were granted permission to build a replacement pavilion in the opposite corner of their field on the Banbury Road, but this project didn’t proceed due to problems with grants, conditions applied to the application and the pandemic.
Now, following a period of reflection, the committee have decided their replacement pavilion would more ideally replace their existing building, in line with the built form of the edge of the village.
They believe this helps maintain the strong connection and relationship between the cricket club and the village which has existed for nearly 70 years. It also supports safe pedestrian access to the site.
A previously approved car park to the east of the site has been completed, resolving safety issues in respect of on-street parking on match days.
Horley Cricket Club offers mixed gender training sessions for children and youth players aged 5 to 19 with around 90 children taking part.
A decision on the latest planning application is expected by November 24.
