Houses evacuated and two arrested following Woodgreen Avenue crash

A car crashed into a parked taxi which then smashed into a house

A southbound stretch of Woodgreen Avenue in Banbury remains closed this afternoon whilst police deal with an incident which occurred during the early hours of this morning.

A call was made to the emergency services shortly after 3.30am, reporting that a vehicle had driven into a car which was parked outside a house.   The parked vehicle – a taxi – had then smashed into the house.

A 19-year-old man and 28-year-old man, both from Banbury, have been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage.   They remain in police custody.

A number of properties have been evacuated as a safety precaution and Woodgreen Avenue remains closed southbound between the Bretch Hill turn and Broughton Road roundabout.

There aren’t any reports of injuries as a result of the incident.

Thames Valley Police remain at the scene carrying out enquiries.
