Performances took place around the village

Glorious sunshine and the traditional sound of morris dancing brought hundreds of people out to enjoy the spectacle of the Day of Dance in Adderbury on Saturday.

The annual occasion began in Adderbury in 1975, thanks to villager Janet Blunt who had written down details of the traditional dances early in the twentieth century.   A blue plaque commemorating Ms Blunt can be found outside Le Hall Place in Manor Road.

Adderbury has two mens’ sides and the ladies’ side, Sharp and Blunt, who danced at a number of locations around the village, with particular focus on the village’s pubs, past and present.

All three sides came together at the end of an energetic day to compete in a traditional drinking dance followed by a combined performance, observed by an enthusiastic and appreciative crowd.
