Indecent exposure reported in Banbury High Street with child seen nearby

CCTV images appear to show a woman passed out on a flowerbed

A 43-year-old man from Banbury has been arrested after police received reports of a male exposing himself in Banbury High Street.   CCTV footage shows the incident happened as a woman and a young girl walked within three metres of him.   The girl was aged between just eight to ten years of age.

The incident happened on Monday March 18 at around 4.20pm and CCTV footage also shows another woman who appeared to have passed out on a flowerbed outside the Good Game shop.

Thames Valley Police officers became aware of what was happening when a member of the public stopped them.  They are hoping witnesses will come forward.

The offender is described as white, around 6ft 1ins tall with short brown hair.   He was wearing navy blue jogging bottoms and a dark coloured jumper.

Investigating officer PC Jess Andrews, based at Banbury police station, said: “We are looking to ascertain the exact nature of the offences, but we believe this to have been an incident of indecent exposure.

“I am looking to identify the woman who was seen walking near to the incident with a female child to please get in touch with Thames Valley Police, as we believe she has witnessed what has occurred.

“If you are this person, or believe that you are, we would ask you to please contact us either online via our website or by calling 101, quoting reference number 43240126431.

“Similarly, I would appeal to anybody else who believe that they have witnessed this incident to please get in touch with us.”

The 43-year-man from Banbury has been bailed until June 26 while investigations continue.
