A prolific shoplifter who stole more than £7,700 worth of perfume from Boots stores – including the one in Brackley Market Place – has been jailed for more than five years.
Between February and April this year 41-year-old Richard Freeman stole a large quantity of fragrances on five separate occasions from Boots in Brackley and Northampton.
During the same time he also targeted other Northamptonshire stores, stealing meat, alcohol and other supermarket goods.
On one occasion in April he pushed over a shop worker and broke her arm.
Freeman was arrested and charged with 17 shop thefts, one attempted shop theft and grievous bodily harm.
He was also charged with a number of driving offences in relation to incidents which took place on April 11.
Freeman, who’s of no fixed address, appeared at Northampton Crown Court where he pleaded guilty to the offences. Returning to the same court on May 16 he was sentenced to five years and six months in prison. He was also disqualified from driving for 30 months.
