Local groups speculate to accumulate over £31k for Katharine House

Eleven groups transformed £550 into £31,084
Enterprising local groups took £550 of funding from Katharine House and grew it to over £31,000, which has now been handed back to the Adderbury based hospice.
The annual Accumulator Challenge saw eleven local schools, community groups, and businesses each given £50 to kickstart their fundraising initiatives. They had four months from October to raise as much money as they could. When the cash was returned the initial investment had been grown to £31,084.
Graf UK raised the most this year – over £15,000 – breaking all previous records. Their activities started with a quiz night and culminated in a 344-mile sponsored row, with many fundraising activities in between. At a special awards ceremony at Bloxham Mill last Thursday (March 7) Graf UK were presented with the coveted Ultimate Accumulator Award.
Caroline Care for You used their seed money to buy materials for a craft fair, items for a quiz night and a sum-up machine, which they used to collect digital donations. They accepted the Community Award for reaching the most people in the wider community.
Others receiving awards included students from Hanwell Fields Community School. They were handed the Creativity Award for their imaginative efforts to raise money with their Break the Rules day, hot chocolate stall and bingo night.
Kineton High School picked up the Sustainability Award for their environmentally friendly Christmas market stalls, where gifts on offer included decorations made from old library books and wood from Xmas Trees, tinsel made from old rags and snowmen made from old white socks.

“Raising over £15,000 is a testament to our team’s dedication and the generous spirit of all involved. We’re proud to contribute significantly to the hospice’s mission, and this accomplishment reflects our core values of sustainability and community engagement. Taking home the ‘Ultimate Accumulator’ title is a cherry on top of the rewarding work we’ve done together for a cause that resonates deeply with all of us.”
The Accumulator Challenge, originally organised by Karcher, has now raised more than £124,000 for Katharine House. The 2023-24 campaign was sponsored by the Banbury and District Chamber of Commerce.
Applications for the 2024-25 Accumulator Challenge are now open with early entries benefitting from an increased £75 seed fund. More details are available here.
