Mill theatre to remain closed longer than originally anticipated

The theatre will now be out of action until February 18

The Mill Arts Centre theatre will remain closed longer than originally anticipated as investigation and repair work continues after damage to the floor was discovered.

Staff found a problem at the start of last week, following flooding around The Mill in January.   At the time a decision was made to postpone or relocate theatre performances up to last weekend.

The Mill has now given an update saying that work is ongoing and so they are having to reschedule all events taking place in the theatre up until February 18.

A spokesperson said: “We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, and we will contact ticket holders for the affected events as soon as possible to advise them of the rescheduled date. Thank you for your patience while we work to confirm the new performance dates with each production company.”

Theatre events from February 19 onwards are currently scheduled to go ahead as planned.

Other parts of the building, such as the art studio, dance studio, long room and Millers Bar are open as normal.

At the time of the River Cherwell bursting its banks back at the start of January it was thought that much of The Mill – including the theatre – hadn’t been affected.    The theatre had been in use until last week.
