Pair plead not guilty to murder of Banbury company MD

A man and a woman have appeared in court after being charged in connection with the murder of the managing director of Banbury company CN Glass last year.

Thirty-year-old Adina Mihai and Madalin Dumitru, aged 29, who are both formerly of Ilford in Essex, appeared at Oxford Crown Court on Friday (April 24).   They both pleaded not guilty.

Emergency services were called to Hazeldene Gardens in Banbury on Sunday 13 July last year after a member of the public reported an unresponsive man at a property.   37-year-old Gary Mouat was later pronounced dead.

Following a joint investigation by Thames Valley Police and Gloucestershire Police, Mihai and Dumitru were each charged with one count of murder, plus an alternative count of manslaughter.   They were also charged with administering poison so as to inflict grievous bodily harm, along with an alternative count of administering poison and one count of conspiracy to steal.

Subsequently Mihai and Dumitru were also both later charged with the same crimes for the murder of 83-year-old Malcolm King at an address near Cirencester on August 21, 2024, along with charges in relation to poisoning and conspiracy to steal from three other men, on separate occasions between 13 and 31 July last year.

At Oxford Crown Court Mihai and Dumitru entered not guilty pleas to a total of 19 charges.   They were both remanded in custody and will appear again in relation to all of the charges on June 3.
