Parade and Sunset Ceremony will mark loss of second world war ship

The ship’s captain was a Middleton Cheney man

This evening in Middleton Cheney there will be a Parade and Sunset Ceremony to commemorate the loss of the ship HMS Hood in 1941 during a second world war battle.   1415 of her 1418 crew went down with the ship.

The ship’s captain, Vice-Admiral Lancelot Holland, was a Middleton Cheney man.  

At the commemoration the village’s Royal British Legion will lead a detachment from Banbury Sea Cadets at the event, accompanied by the Pipes and Drums of the Banbury and District Caledonian Pipe Band.

The parade begins at 7pm in the Middleton Cheney Primary School playground.
