Proposed changes to Bloxham’s conservation area

06/05/2025

The last review took place in 2007

Villagers in Bloxham are invited to view proposed changes to the village’s conservation area at an event tomorrow.

Parts of Bloxham were first given conservation area designation in 1975, reflecting the importance placed on the value of the village’s historical, aesthetic and architectural character.

The conservation area was reviewed in 1991 and again in 2007.

In the current review there are six proposed alterations to the boundary.   These include removing a handful of twentieth century properties from the edge of the conservation area and including all of the land associated with Godswell down to the Bloxham Brook.

The western edge of the boundary would also be extended to include the land associated with Park Close, which is surrounded by a stone boundary wall and was originally part of the medieval and post medieval park and site of Beauchamp Manor.

As part of the review its noted the intention of designating a conservation area is not to prevent change or development, but to positively manage change to protect or enhance the special character and appearance of an area.

The full details of the proposed changes to Bloxham’s conservation area can been seen at the Public Exhibition which will take place in Jubilee Park Hall tomorrow (Wednesday) between 3pm and 7pm.

The public can also comment on the changes in an online consultation.
