Puritans first team captain to address frustrating results with supporters
05/12/2024
The club says there have been “some extremely challenging and frank conversations”
Banbury United’s first team captain, Yaw Ofosu, has asked to meet supporters this evening so he can directly address frustrations at the team’s disappointing results this season.
The meeting at the Spencer Clubhouse will offer both club members and non-members the opportunity to ask questions face-to-face. Manager Simon Hollyhead will also be present.
The meeting will follow the team’s training session at 7pm, which everyone is invited to watch.
Banbury United Chairman Wayne Farrell said: “This week, we communicated to our members how much we shared their disappointment at recent poor results and that we as a leadership team are active and committed to enacting solutions to turn around our trajectory. There have been some extremely challenging and frank conversations with our first team management and senior players in recent days.
“The proactive, passionate input from Yaw regarding the project of building our four-month-old team has been compelling. He would like Banbury United fans to know that the team hears their voices and fully recognises why current performances and the league position is of such concern. As players, they own the results and would like to explain the situation in their own words.
“As a fan-owned Club, we’d like to give our supporters the opportunity to hear from Yaw as well. I would like to urge as many of you as possible to come down and to put your questions to Yaw, Simon and the team, directly, face-to-face.”
Tonight’s meeting will start at 8.15pm. The club says they appreciate it is short notice so will also run a second meeting next Tuesday.
