Woodgreen Leisure Centre has warned swimmers that they may need to vacate the pool

Banbury’s Outdoor Pool has proven popular once again this year – particularly during the periods of extreme heat in July and August.

With the school term now beginning and the weather turning cooler, the pool season isn’t over yet.   Swimming sessions will continue to be available until the end of the season on September 18.

Whilst the Woodgreen Leisure Centre welcomes swimmers come rain or shine, they are today warning people there is one weather condition for which the pool must be vacated.

That’s lightning.

For those planning a swim over the next few days whilst thunder and lightning remains in the weather forecast they warn that everyone will need to leave the pool whenever there is a threat of lightning, and it must remain empty until 30 minutes after the final sighting of lightning.
