River Island at Banbury Gateway closing

The store will close at the end of the month
The River Island outlet at Banbury Gateway is closing. Signs in the shop windows say the last day open will be Saturday June 28.
The announcement comes just days after Sky News reported that the founding family behind River Island had called in PricewaterhouseCoopers to create a radical turnaround plan, aimed at averting financial collapse. Accounts for the company for the 52 weeks ending December 30, 2023 show it made a £33.2m pre-tax loss.
River Island is one of Britain’s best-known clothing chains, operating roughly 230 stores across the country, and employing approximately 5,500 people.
Previously known as Lewis and Chelsea Girl, the business was founded in 1948 by Bernard Lewis.
Banbury FM has contacted River Island but hasn’t had a response.
