Royal Visit To Banbury
North Oxfordshire gears up for a visit by the Duchess of Cornwall
Banbury is set to welcome royalty on Wednesday with Her Royal Highness, Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall paying the town a visit. The occasion includes two official public engagements, one of which will see Her Royal Highness popping in to Second Time Around on Beaumont Road.
Project Manager, Jon Corden told Banbury FM, “We are delighted that she has chosen to come and have a look at what we do here.
“In particular we would like her to see the diverse nature of the involvement of our adults with a learning disability and other volunteers and how they work within our charity”.
The Duchess of Cornwall will learn how Second Time Around take unwanted or donated items and restore them. Project members are also encouraged to interact with the wider community and become involved in selling the items. They gain certification to recognise their achievements.
Second Time Around also houses Wendy’s CuriousiTeas tearoom.
The Duchess of Cornwall will also be visiting the Royal Voluntary Service in Cornhill. Her Royal Highness is the President of the RVS and she will meet staff and some of their youngest volunteers.
Timings for the visit have not been specified, but Banbury Town Council have confirmed Her Royal Highness will visit Second Time Around as the first call on her visit. It is estimated she will arrive at the RVS in Cornhill via Castle Street around midday. The public will be able to watch from standing areas in Castle Street, where a rolling road closure will apply during the arrival and departure. She is expected to remain at the RVS for around 40 minutes.
