Dassett Primary School will remain closed until Tuesday

A school to the North of Banbury is set to stay closed on Monday as a precautionary measure following a suspected case of Coronavirus (COVID-19) within the school’s parents.

The Dassett Primary School in Fenny Compton has written to parents advising them the school will be shut whilst cleaning takes place, but it is expected to reopen on Tuesday.

The message to parents was issued jointly by Headteacher Suzanne Corry and Chair of Governors Hester Stevns:

“A decision has been made to close school on Monday 9th March for one day only.

“This is purely a precautionary measure in the light of the fact that there is a suspected case if Coronavirus COVID-19 amongst the parent body, with connections to our school.

“There will be a clean of the school on Monday and we will reopen on Tuesday.   An email will be sent out on Monday with further information if anything changes but we anticipate that school will be open as normal”.

Today, Sunday, the number of Coronavirus cases in the UK has increased to 273.   There are now 5 confirmed cases in Oxfordshire.
