“There have been challenges for sure, but I’m also really proud of a lot of what we’ve been able to achieve for local people”
A year on from his election Sean Woodcock says it remains an honour and a privilege to be the area’s Member of Parliament.
Twelve months ago today polling stations were open so we could vote in the General Election.
Mr Woodcock took what had been a traditional Conservative stronghold for the Labour party.
He received 38 percent of the vote. His predecessor, Victoria Prentis, was knocked into second place with a 32 percent vote share. Reform UK were third.
On the first anniversary of his election Mr Woodcock told Banbury FM: “I’m really enjoying it. It remains an honour and a privilege to be the Member of Parliament for Banbury.
“There have been challenges for sure, but I’m also really proud of a lot of what we’ve been able to achieve for local people in the last year: freezing fuel duty and money to fix over 7 million potholes to 4.2 million extra NHS appointments, the lowest NHS waiting times in two years and over £3,000,000 investment into the Horton General Hospital.
“The expansion of school meals, launching free breakfast club, funding for school nurseries (including Chipping Norton) or £150 off energy bills for more families, raising the minimum wage and the big biggest expansion in rights for workers and renters in a generation.
“So there’s lots done, but more to do and I’m looking forward to cracking on with it.”
